Congratulations to both Super Soccer League teams competing in the historic Lamar Hunt US Open Cup 2025 Qualifiers!
Steel Pulse of the MSSL Division 1 advanced past VA Revolution (UPSL) with a resounding 4-2 victory. Goals from Williams Yami Nono, Diarra Zoumana, Emmanuel Oluessessi, and Stephen Jude lifted the Pulse to victory despite going down to 10 men after a red card dismissal. Steel Pulse will travel to face NJ Alliance in the final round of USOC2025 (Mid Atlantic Group) qualification.
Virginia Dream of the VSSL faced cross town rivals ASA Reds (UPSL) in a thrilling 2-1 affair which took all of 120 minutes to produce a match winner. Both of Dream’s goals were scored by Nico Likulia, the second of which came in stoppage time of the second period of extra time. Dream will advance to host Aegean Hawks (APL) in the final qualification round of the USOC2025 (DMV Group).
Both SSL teams have an opportunity to qualify for the tournament proper because they were grouped into different groups (Mid-Atlantic group and DMV group). Tune in to DMV Sports Media YouTube to watch coverage of these historic journeys!
